In the late 70’s early 80’s I used to have to go to work with Dad who was a bridge surveyor for the Yorkshire Dales National Parks. Couldn’t afford a sitter in the school holidays. He made me walk bloody miles to get to remote bridges sometimes but we always had a packed lunch. Dad would photograph, measure, check the structure to see if the bridge was worth saving. He would then sit down beside me and hand draw the bridge...........I have a lot of his drawings. My Daughter has had the most amazing idea and out of my childhood, “Grandipops Originals” have been born, for our hamper business. Our very own sweets will now feature in our hampers.The bridge is Thorns-Capnut which stands over the River Ribble close to the Ribblehead Viaduct.
